GREEN BAY PACKERS CLINCH WILD CARD SPOT

Packers grind out win in Chicago

It wasn't always straightforward, but in the end, the Packers were able to step up and get the job done when it mattered. Squandered opportunities were the theme of the first half, but after the break, the Packers came out and ground the Bears down.

Their 17-9 win marks the tenth year in a row that Green Bay have beaten Chicago in the oldest rivalry in football.

The Packers offense racked up 432 total yards while the Bears were held to just 192 yards. The story of the day though was the Bears going 3-for-11 on third down, and never finding the end zone.

Jordan Love completed 84.4% of his passes for the second highest comp percentage in Packers history, finishing with a 128.6 passer rating. On the ground, Aaron Jones was a beast, with his third straight 100-yard rushing game, getting 111 yards on 22 carries and pulling down five receptions for 30 yards to boot.

For the Bears, this is not only the end of their season but probably also the end of the line for Justin Fields. Although posting a decent 11-of-16 for 148 yards game, it was just the nail in his coffin in Chicago. They have the first draft pick and it is almost certain that they will go for a young quarterback and look to the future.

With this win, the Packers have taken the Wild Card spot, booting the Saints out of the post season. The Packers will now face the Cowboys next week and will need to up their game to trade punches with Dallas' prolific offense.

A penalty makes it second and 16, and Brooks gets to fields to make it 3rd and 22!

as.com

After one play, he is cleared and back in the game.

Jeffrey May

Fields is taken off the field. This was due to a play in that last set where he was hit as he slid and his head hit the ground. The league has mandated a neurologist to call him off for a concussion check.

Jeffrey May

The Bears go for it on fourth and five!

They go with a hard count and the Packers jump! First down. That is the first enforced penalty of the game.

Jeffrey May

Third and 5 and Fields has it batted down. Fourth down.

Jeffrey May

Fields completes to Herbert for a 16 yard gain.

as.com

Jones takes the kickoff in the end zone and runs it out across the 30

Jeffrey May

Carlson comes out and puts it through the uprights for a field goal. Still a one-score game. 17-9

as.com

It is ruled incomplete.

Jeffrey May

Love throws over the middle to Melton and it is first ruled incomplete, then a touchdown. He bobbled it, but they will review whether or not he had possession before he went out of bounds.

Jeffrey May

And just like that, the Packers are knocking on the door. They give it to Jones, who carries it to the 7 yard line.

Jeffrey May

The Packers take over on the 27 and completes to Reed for a 52 yard gain! The biggest of the day!

as.com

Santos puts it through the uprights to make it 9. The Bears trail by five and Santos is the single season field goal leader for the franchise with 35 made.

At the 17, Fields throws incomplete to the end zone. It was nearly intercepted! The first flag of the game is thrown for offensive pass interference and it is declined. That will be fourth down.

as.com

Fields scrambles and gets out of trouble then completing a 28 yard pass to Kmet who took a shot. That was their second pass of the fourth quarter. They didn't make a single completion through the entire third quarter.

Jeffrey May

Love scrambles for the sideline and has the ball stripped! It is recovered by Brisker for a turnover!

as.com

Passions boil over and there is a scrap in the middle of the field. Reed and Gordon get going and everyone piles in.

Jeffrey May

Jones takes it over the 48 for a first down.

as.com

Love to Jayden Reed in the flat gets seven

Jeffrey May

They hand it to Melton on an end around and he fights his way for 12 yards.

as.com

The punt from Gill bounces at the 1 and the Bears can't quite keep it out of the endzone. Touchback. But it was so nearly a perfect punt.

as.com

Walker and Smith collapse the pocket and get to Fields for another third down sack! That forces the punt.

as.com

The Bears keep it on the ground, pounding it up the middle and work their way out to midfield

Jeffrey May

The Bears get the ball back on the 22 and need a response quickly here.

Jeffrey May

Great route

Fight for the line

Jeffrey May

The Packers go to Aaron Jones and he runs it up the middle for 17 yards.

as.com

Love drops back and hits a side open Melton for a 30 yard gain

as.com

The Packers get the ball back to start the second half, with an opportunity to make up for that dismal ending to the first half.

Jeffrey May

That may be the half and Green Bay is up 7-6, but they just blew at least 3 points on that drive.

Jeffrey May

HALF TIME

Once again the Packers don't get out of bounds and the clock runs out. What a terrible series! The Packers offense has a terrible hurryup discipline!

Jeffrey May

Oh! Terell Smith had the interception in the end zone, but dropped it.

Jeffrey May

Oh what a mistake by Scott! He got the ball for a short gain and could have stepped out of bounds with 44 seconds on the clock, but instead tried for the first down. The Packers have to use their last timeout!

WELCOME!!!

Welcome to Diario AS USA’s live coverage of Week 18 in the NFL. We bring you one of the most legendary rivalries in professional sports as the Green Bay Packers host the Chicago Bears in what is a do-or-die situation for the Pack, live from Lambeau Field.

For the Packers, there is more than just pride on the line tonight, with a win seeing them make the playoffs. The Bears can make life very unpleasant for Green Bay by handing them a loss. It wouldn't necessarily end their playoff hopes, but it would take it out of their hands forcing them to rely on a trifecta of a Vikings loss, a Seahawks loss, and either a Saints or Bucs loss.

But for Chicago, tonight isn't just all about making things tough on their rival. They have their own playoff hopes and future to consider. A win gets them into the playoffs but in a season that has been dominated by Justin Fields' thumb, they have to make a decision over whether to keep him or look for a new quarterback. Fields is fighting for his job, and the Bears are at a crossroads.
