Can Patrick Mahomes motivate his Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl win with a Las Vegas promise?
The Chiefs’ man in the middle has promised his teammates a little something extra in ‘Sin City.’ Now, all they have to do is go out and win the Super Bowl.
As they prepare to take on the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs star has attempted to give his team an extra incentive. Of course, it will take more than the promise of an opulent getaway to secure victory against the NFC champions.
Patrick Mahomes offers Vegas trip to teammates
If one thing is clear, it’s that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, is willing to do whatever he can in order to take his team toward victory in the Super Bowl this weekend. Speaking during Monday’s opening night press conference at Allegiant Stadium, Mahomes offered some motivation to his teammates ahead of their date with the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday, February 11th. Indeed, the reigning league MVP explained that while the Chiefs’ visit to Las Vegas was a “business trip”, he had in fact promised his teammates that he would “bring everyone back to Vegas to celebrate” should they manage to lift the Lombardi trophy.
OK, but what’s at stake for the Kansas City Chiefs?
Clearly, there is a Super Bowl ring up for grabs. Yet, aside from the fact that this is the NFL’s biggest game, the Chiefs are also one win away from becoming the first team in history to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles since the New England Patriots did so in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. That’s to say, we can understand why Mahomes might be taking a creative approach to motivating his men. On the other hand, one has to believe that such a move - if they win - will cost a pretty penny. Luckily, with a $208 million contract that runs through the 2026 season, the 28-year-old signal-caller is more than good for it. At this point, the only hangup where Mahomes’ plan is concerned, aside from the fact that the team has got to win, is whether everyone can adhere to the age-old rule of ‘what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.’
