Carrie Underwood’s Sunday Night Football paycheck, and the NFL players that she makes more than
The Bills and the Ravens kicked off NBC’s Sunday Night Football slate with some big stars, but maybe no one was a bigger star than Carrie Underwood.
We had been waiting all year for Sunday night, and finally the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens kicked off NBC’s Sunday Night Football slate last weekend, giving us what is likely to be one of the most thrilling games of NFL season.
Sunday night’s biggest star
While Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson took the stage and shined bright in primetime, it was another Sunday night star that has been making headlines over the last couple days. Carrie Underwood brings in the broadcast with her famous song “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.”

Underwood reportedly films for the entire season in just one day and got paid 18 million dollars for that last season.

Reports around the NFL suggest Underwood is being paid like an NFL player for her weekly rendition of the intro. The country star is reportedly being paid a million dollars a week during the regular season, which comes out to $18 million a year.
Really, it’s 18 million for a few months of work, a maybe even a couple days. The lyrics are essentially the same every week, except for a minor tweak or two as Carrie mentions the teams and stars involved in each weeks edition of SNF.
Paid like an NFL super star
The $18 million reels her in more than NBC’s play-by-play commentator Mike Tirico who makes $10.5 million a year, and color commentator Chris Collinsworth who mades 12.5 million a year with the network.

In order to compare the “Before He Cheats” star’s salary to anyone on SNF, you have to go out of the booth and on to the field. Underwood’s salary is more like a player’s salary than anyone involved in the broadcast.
The top paid player in the league per year is Dak Prescott who is raking in $60,000,000 a year. She’s a far cry from that, but you’d be surprised some of the NFL stars. There are Super Bowl winning QBs, MVPs, rushing title winners, and a triple crown receiver that the former American Idol winner is out gaining this season.
- QBs
- Daniel Jones (IND) $14,000,000
- Aaron Rodgers (PIT) $13,650,000
- Russell Wilson (SEA) $10,500,00
- RBs
- Makes more than all but two running backs: Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffery
- Derrick Henry (BAL) $15,000,000
- Jonathan Taylor (IND) $14,000,000
- WRs
- Deebo Samuel (WAS) $17,545,529
- Cooper Kupp (SEA) $15,000,000
- Defense
- Joey Bosa (BUF) $12,610,000
- Alex Highsmith (PIT) $17,000,000
