The Houston Texans face a tough test in their Divisional round playoff matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Midway through the first quarter Texans fans were made to hold their breath when quarterback CJ Stroud appeared to suffer an injury that left him limping.

When the offensive unit left the field Stroud was receiving treatment, including the use of an infrared wrap to provide rapid pain relief. He was able to return to the field for the next possession but was still visibly limping, sparking major concern about his fitness. Nevertheless, Stroud was able to see out the first quarter and looked more fluid when he returned to the field at the start of the second.

Stroud was able to continue but suffered eight sacks before eventually being forced to hobble from the field late in the fourth quarter. It looked to be a reoccurrence of the same injury from the first and he was forced to watch on as the Chiefs see out the win.

The Chiefs are the favourites for Super Bowl LIX off the back of an imperious regular season record. The reigning champions cruised to a 15-2 record in 2024 but they are rarely comfortable, putting up a streak of 15 straight wins by a single score.

The Texans impressed in their Wild Card win over the Los Angeles Chargers, putting up 32 points to the Chargers’ 12. Last year they ended their season with a loss to the Chiefs, they will be hoping to avoid the same fate this time around.
