Cooper Kupp, the Rams’ star receiver, missed the second half of the 2022 season due to an injured ankle. The team was hopeful that he would be fully recovered for the 2023 season, but that might not be the case, as he appeared to suffer a hamstring injury during practice on Tuesday.

A Rams spokesman confirmed the hamstring injury to reporters, and the team plans to be cautious with him, potentially sidelining him for the rest of the month. However, there is hope that he might return for scrimmages in a few weeks.

During a one-on-one receiving drill in practice, Kupp appeared to come up slightly lame after running a route into the end zone. He immediately sought the training staff’s assistance and left the field.

Rams coach Sean McVay was unsure about the extent of Kupp’s injury, as he hadn’t spoken to the medical team yet. McVay saw the play but had no further details to share.

I’m not sure,” McVay said regarding Kupp’s injury. “I haven’t talked to those guys yet, so I don’t know.”

Kupp has been a top receiver in the NFL for the past four years. However, his 2022 season was cut short due to an ankle injury, causing him to miss the last eight games. Despite the injury, he had an impressive 75 receptions in nine games, putting him on pace for 141.7 catches, which would have been the fourth-most in NFL history for a single season.

We’re much better when he’s here, and you hope he’s going to be okay,” McVay added. “But if he’s not, I mean, we’ll see what happens, but the practice had to go on and that’s what happened today.”

The Rams will now hope that Kupp’s hamstring injury is not severe and he can join them soon.
