Update:

The Dallas Cowboys owe edge rusher Micah Parsons a contract extension. They’ve been in talks for a while, and he’s set to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL once it’s signed.

Players are expected to report to training camp in less than three weeks, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has yet to get the deal done with Parsons. One insider has revealed why not.

The real reason Micah Parsons hasn’t signed yet

Both the Cowboys and Parsons reportedly aligned on a five-year, $200 million-deal with a $40 million annual salary, which would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

While some national reports have suggested the contract length is a sticking point, local insiders dispute that, saying both Parsons and Jerry Jones are on board with a five-year extension.

Instead, the final holdup may come down to guaranteed money. With training camp approaching on July 21, the deal feels inevitable, but the finer details are still being hammered out.
