Its been an offseason full of ups and downs for the Cowboys and that was before one of there players was implicated in a murder case.

Was the Cowboys’ CB Kelvin Joseph involved in a murder?

As the Dallas Cowboys attempt to sift through an offseason that have been plagued by varying twists and turns, they now have to deal with what can only be considered the ‘icing on the cake. According to reports, cornerback Kelvin Joseph has been asked by Dallas police to present himself for interview regarding an ongoing murder investigation involving the death of Cameron Ray, 20, on the evening of March 18th following an altercation outside of a Dallas area nightclub.

The 22 year old was the team’s second-round pick in 2021 and has been widely expected to have a starting role in the coming season, but such things will have to be put on hold. Surveillance video has been made available to the public in which an individual matching the description of Joseph - including his trademark necklace that reads YKDV, which stands for ‘Ya Know Da Vibe’ - can be seen. Indeed, at the very scene where an altercation occurred with Ray and his group of friends, said individual can be seen and appears to have been involved in the conflict itself.

What do we know about Cameron Ray’s death?

Regarding what has been reported so far, it is understood that after the aforementioned fight - allegedly involving Joseph - Ray was gunned down in a drive-by shooting by an individual who opened fire on him from an SUV. Ray was transported to a local hospital shortly after where he was pronounced dead. According to CBS Sports the chronology of events can be seen below:

What happens to the Cowboys’ Kelvin Joseph now?

To date there has been no official word on whether or not Joseph will make himself available for a police interview and more importantly, if he should agree to do so, when will will said interview occur? If there is one thing that is certain for the moment, it’s that the NFL career of a standout cornerback from the University of Kentucky has come to a halt. Incidentally, there are those who will argue that this is no surprise, citing the fact that Joseph came through 2021 NFL Draft with what many considered to be causes for concern in terms of his off-the-field behavior. Indeed, such was the trepidation surrounding these issues that some even doubted his ability to maintain a professional career.

In the end the Cowboys took the chance, eventually picking him at 44 overall in the draft and were even show an early return on the investment, as Joseph showed promise in his initial 10 games. As mentioned before it was widely expected that the young Cornerback would secure the starting spot this season alongside Trevon Diggs, but now with the possibility of his involvement in a serious and tragic criminal situation, it remains to be seen whether or not Kelvin Joseph will continue to be a player for the Dallas Cowboys or will he be implicated in the death of Cameron Ray who lost his life on March 18th 2022.
