The Baltimore Ravens have already turned their focus to the 2025 season after last weekend’s Divisional round loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Ravens boast some exciting attacking talents but have struggled in the latter rounds of the playoffs in recent years.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is in contention for a third NFL Most Valuable Player award and he helped to get the best out of running back Derrick Henry, who starred in 2024. Henry put up 1,921 rushing yards and a league-high 16 touchdowns in his first season in Baltimore.

The 31-year-old arrived last year on a two-year deal worth $16 million, meaning that he is about to enter the final season of his contract. There has been talk of a move away from Baltimore but Henry helped silence the chatter with a post on social media on Wednesday.

Alongside a picture with Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta praising his contribution, Henry wrote: “RUN IT BACK”.

Ravens fans will be delighted to see that Henry is eager to remain with the team after an impressive 2024 showing. They aren’t the only ones, speaking at a season-ending press conference on Wednesday, DeCosta hinted that the team is willing to offer him a new deal to tie him down.

I think he proved he had a lot left in the tank,” DeCosta said, when asked if Henry could get an extension. “I can honestly say, his attitude and the way that he played was amazing to watch. His relationship with his teammates, his humility as a player, his work ethic ... can’t wait to see it next year.”

An extension for Henry would help to ensure that the Ravens can build on this season’s performance but he’s not the only important player in need of a new deal. Offensive linemen Ronnie Stanley and Patrick Mekari are both entering free agency, while safety Kyle Hamilton and center Tyler Linderbaum are also expected to receive new long-term deals.

Addressing reporters on Wednesday DeCosta admitted that he was unhappy with how the 2024 season ended but insisted that he’s committed to finding improvement going forward.

“I’m disappointed, John [Harbaugh, head coach] is disappointed. We’re all disappointed. Our team’s disappointed,” DeCosta said. “We had higher aspirations and we didn’t achieve those aspirations and goals. I’ve already moved on. ... I love being part of the solution and that’s what we’ll be.”
