Donald Trump personally invites the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House: “We’ll do it today”
The US president announced that the Eagles will soon receive an invitation to Washington DC to honor their Super Bowl LIX triumph.

Seven years ago, the Philadelphia Eagles triumphed at Super Bowl LII, defeating the New England Patriots. But following that victory, the team declined an invitation to visit the White House, then occupied by President Donald Trump during his first term.
Things have changed since then. The NFC East franchise won their second Vince Lombardi Trophy by defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans earlier this month. They are now awaiting an invitation from the president to visit the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

Will the Eagles accept or decline Trump’s invitation?
Multiple reports suggested that the team might decline the invitation if extended, but NFL sources revealed that they would accept it.
President Trump told CBS News that the invitation for the Eagles to visit the White House will be made soon. In 2018, the Philadelphia team declined the president’s invitation due to a dispute over the national anthem, and Trump canceled the visit when he learned that only a small delegation was willing to attend.
“They will be invited, we haven’t done it yet, but we will‚” said President Trump. “I thought it was a great performance by them. Absolutely, they will be extended that invitation. We’ll do it some time today. They deserve to be down here, and we hope to see them”.

NFL teams who have turned down White House invitations
Apart from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018, several other professional sports teams in the United States have passed invitations to visit the White House.
The first were the Golden State Warriors, NBA champions in 2016-17 and the Seattle Storm, who lifted the WNBA title in 2018.
Trump immediately responded on social media: “Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”
