Experts agree: He is the NFL’s top quarterback and the nicest guy in the league

From MVP honors to heartfelt fan moments, Josh Allen leads both on the field and in winning hearts off it.

Update:

Josh Allen has long been considered one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, a belief he further cemented during the 2024 season when he was named MVP. But the Buffalo Bills star has also earned a reputation - and praise - as one of football’s “good guys,” especially for his off-field behavior.

Fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Patrick Mahomes in particular, will likely disagree with the idea that Allen is the league’s top QB. After all, Mahomes boasts three Super Bowl victories and multiple MVP awards, while Allen has yet to claim either.

The two have met four times in the postseason, with Mahomes leading the Chiefs to victory every time, a fact Sheil Kapadia highlighted in a conversation with Bill Simmons for The Ringer.

The argument for Josh Allen over Patrick Mahomes

Still, Simmons believes Mahomes’ peak may be behind him after a disappointing 2024 season, and that Allen has now taken the lead as the NFL’s number one quarterback.

“When it came right down to it, I just think Josh Allen is the best quarterback in the league,” Simmons said. “Game by game, regular season, durability. He can make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

But Allen isn’t just praised for his on-field talent. Much attention is also being given to his off-field persona, particularly how he makes time for and connects with fans.

Josh Allen “operating on a different level” off the field

Kevin Wildes, host of First Things First on FS1, recently expressed huge admiration for Allen’s interpersonal skills, situational awareness, and emotional intelligence (EQ).

“Watch Josh Allen interacting with fans on the sidelines or players’ families,” Wildes said. “There’s a famous clip where he goes over to a former Bills player - he knows the wife, the kids, all about them.

“All through training camp, he’s meeting fans he’s met before and striking up conversations,” Wildes continued. “Josh Allen seems like a top-five human being on Earth, considering how much attention he gives these fans and how sincerely he enjoys spending time with kids from hospitals and others.

“There’s another video with military families where Allen takes off his hat to greet them. His situational awareness and EQ seem almost savant-like. Several training camp videos this year make me think this guy is operating on a different level,” the host added.

Allen surprises Bills fan with disability

An example comes from a video shared on X by Joe Robbie, host of The Dive Bar Podcast, which focuses on the Miami Dolphins.

The clip shows Allen chatting with a Bills fan with a disability before surprising him with two tickets to the Ryder Cup, sparking joyous scenes filled with high fives, bro hugs, and the obligatory photo.

Robbie, not even a Bills fan, confessed: “I love Josh Allen. He’s too awesome to hate on, man. I mean, c’mon.”

If you need more convincing, a compilation video posted on X by the Bills Mafia account showcases Allen’s good humor and down-to-earth nature through clips of his quick wit and chatty banter, both on and off the field - more than enough to seal the deal.
