From the NFL to Hollywood: 49ers TE George Kittle’s latest career move turns heads

As if being a world class tight end on a Super Bowl contender isn’t enough, George Kittle is set to embark on his next career path. Don’t worry Niners fans, he’s not going anywhere. He’s just pursuing a passion project that might lay out the red carpet for life after football.

The San Francisco 49ers are in the thick of their training camp as they gear up for the 2026 season, but it has just been announced that George Kittle will be the next NFL star to make the jump from gridiron to the big screen. He joins a long list of NFLers, particularly tight ends that have made started their acting careers while playing.

The announcement came over the weekend. Kittle be involved in an eight-part series called Dinosaurs of the Wild West. The premise of the series is basically exactly how you would imagine. The show takes place in a Wild West in which dinosaurs still roamed the earth.

While it’s a bit of a diversion from his other extracurricular activities, it’s right in line with the showman, and entertainer that he is. Aside from being one of the best tight ends in the game, Kittle is known as an avid wrestling fan, and has even taken part in WrestleMania. He jumped into the ring in WrestleMania 39 and clotheslined The Miz.

Kittle on the mend

Tight ends around the league are part of an exclusive fraternity with a lot of them being part of a union called “Tight End U.” The list of tight ends that have crossed over into the acting world is even more exclusive, but it’s a who’s who of all time greats, at least on the gridiron. Tony Gonzalez, Rob Gronkowski, Travis Kelce and Vernon Davis all dipped their toes into the world of acting.

Kittle is a seven time Pro Bowler and has been named an NFL All Pro first teamer twice. Since getting drafted by the Niners in 2017, Kittle has had four 1,000 yard receiving seasons and been to two Super Bowls, while including himself in the conversation for best tight end in the league.

While scheduling of the Dinosaurs in the Wild West is not known, Kittle will be focused on getting back on the gridiron as soon as possible. He started training camp on the PUP list after suffering a torn achilles in the Wild Card win over the Philadelphia Eagles in last year’s playoffs. That could give him a little extra time to go over his lines as he continues his rehab.
