Update:

The Detroit Lions’ season is balancing on a knife-edge following their Week 13 defeat to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving. Despite losing 31-24 at Ford Field, there is some positive news for head coach Dan Campbell as his team looks to finish the regular season strongly.

St. Brown injury update brings Lions hope

Star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was forced out of Thursday’s loss with an ankle injury, limiting Detroit’s chances of securing a vital victory against a division rival. The Lions were ultimately left disappointed, but it appears St. Brown has escaped serious injury and may be able to help his team push for a postseason spot.

“Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown is believed to have suffered a low ankle sprain Sunday, sources say, and while he continues to be evaluated, it’s good news so far on his chances for returning sooner than later,” wrote NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on X.

Detroit schedule could limit missed games

Pelissero also pointed out that Detroit’s schedule provides 10 days between their Week 14 game against the Dallas Cowboys and their Week 15 meeting with the Los Angeles Rams, which could ensure St. Brown misses just one matchup.

“Detroit plays just one game in the next 16 days: Dec. 4 against Dallas. At this point, Amon-Ra St. Brown is not expected to land on IR and likely will be week-to-week as the Lions enter the stretch run,” Pelissero concluded.

Will the Lions make the playoffs? Postseason chances

Following their defeat to the Packers, the Lions are third in the NFC North with a 7-5 record. Campbell’s team is within striking distance of both the Chicago Bears (8-3) and Green Bay (8-3-1) but still has ground to make up in their final five games (the Bears have six remaining).

The Lions currently hold the eighth-best record in the NFC, just behind the Seattle Seahawks (8-3), the Packers, and the San Francisco 49ers (8-4), the three teams occupying the wild card spots.
