SUPER BOWL LVII

How much do Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts make? Net worth and salary

What salary are the two quarterbacks on? How much are they worth?

Update:
What salary are the two quarterbacks on? How much are they worth?
CAITLIN O'HARAREUTERS

History will be made in Glendale as it is the first time that two black quarterbacks will take each other on for football’s biggest prize, 35 years after Doug Williams became the first black man to start as quarterback in the Super Bowl. If the Chiefs win the game, Mahomes will be the first black quarterback to win multiple Super Bowls; if the Eagles win, Hurts will become the fourth black quarterback to win a Super Bowl, along with Doug Williams, Russell Wilson and Mahomes.

To be on the world stage and have two Black quarterbacks start in the Super Bowl, I think it’s special, and I’ve learned more and more about the history of the Black quarterback since I’ve been in this league”, Mahomes said, obviously happy about the chance he has to make history.

It’s also historic for another, much less important reason: the absurd amounts of money that are floating around in NFL world. Here’s a breakdown of how much the two stars are on, and how much they’re worth. It’s a lot.

How much does Jalen Hurts make?

As for Hurts, he knows that due to good performances he is due a pay raise, which would see his current deal shoot through the roof. He signed a four-year, $6,025,171 contract with the Eagles. The deal included a $1,942,944 bonus with an average salary of $1,506,293.

In 2023, in the third season of his four-year contract, Hurts will earn $4,303,000 and a bonus of $100,000 with a $4,789,486 salary cap. His net worth is estimated to be around $6 million - quite undervalued!

As detailed in AS USA earlier in the year, a 10-year deal in the $500 million range is not out of the realms of possibility for Hurts, who, at 24-years-old, is still incredibly young and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie know it, saying Hurts is “an incredible leader of the team on the field, off the field. He’s incredibly mature and, most importantly, driven to be even better.”

How much does Mahomes make?

Now, if the big numbers in Hurts’ explainer made your head wobble, prepare yourself for what is coming. Mahomes signed the biggest known deal in NFL history with the Chiefs, who elected Mahomes in the first round (10th overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft. They signed him to a guaranteed four-year, $16.42 million contract that included a signing bonus of $10.08 million.

As detailed in AS, on April 30, 2020, the Chiefs decided to go with the fifth-year option on Mahomes’ contract, signing him to a ten-year extension worth $477 million with another $26 million in potential bonuses: a total of $503 million. The contract extends until the 2031 season, and at the time of signing, it was the largest in American professional sports history; his average annual salary is around $45 million.

In signing this deal, Patrick Mahomes officially became the first professional athlete to have a half a billion-dollar contract. Have that, Cristiano.
