Is the Chiefs’ dynasty over? Travis Kelce: “Football only lasts so long”
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has opened up on where he sees himself in the near future.
Travis Kelce has opened up on his retirement plans for after the upcoming Super Bowl, and it’s good news for Chiefs fans: he’s going nowhere.
The tight end spoke to the media in the run-up to the grand final which is set to take place on February 9, and was asked about if he had thought about this being his last shot at glory.
At the Super Bowl festivities, Kelce was quizzed on where he sees himself in three years, to which he replied “hopefully still playing football.”
‘Football only lasts for so long’
“I love doing this” he admitted, “I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still have a lot of good football left in me. We’ll see what happens. I know I’ve been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life. That’s always been the goal knowing football only lasts for so long.”
“You have to find a way to get into another career and another profession. I’ve been doing that in my offseason. But for the most part, I plan on being a Kansas City Chief and playing football.”
While Taylor Swift’s S/O might be 35-years-old, he’s still got plenty to give. Kelce had 97 catches this season for 823 yards and scored three touchdowns.
However, it was in the recent win over the Houston Texans where he managed seven catches for 117 yards and goes into the Super Bowl with the most catches in the playoffs (174) and second in yards receiving (2,039), as well as TD catches (20).
The 59th Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 6:30 PM ET at the legendary Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
