Inside the Seahawks’ euphoric Super Bowl LX locker room celebration
The Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl for only the second time, defeating the New England Patriots 29-13 in Santa Clara.
Half an hour after the Seattle Seahawks hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy over Santa Clara, the doors to their locker room at Levi’s Stadium swung open. By a twist of fate, the space they were using belonged to the San Francisco 49ers, the Seahawks’ longtime NFL rival. As the doors opened, a thick haze from cigars wafted out, chasing the air. The floor was sticky with champagne, which guests tried to avoid as best they could. Inside, the celebration was in full swing. Seattle had just won its second Super Bowl ring, defeating the New England Patriots 29-13, and the energy was electric.
Music, TikTok, and champagne showers
The sound of rap music blasted through the room. Some players were already changed, while others scrambled for their Super Bowl championship jerseys. Most wore oversized ski goggles to protect their eyes from flying champagne. Hands were shaken, songs were sung, TikTok dances were recorded nonstop, and some players went live on Instagram. Helmets, shoulder pads, boots, and clumps of turf littered the floor. The cleanup crew was going to have their work cut out for them.
An intimate look rarely seen
The few members of the press allowed in the locker room moved freely, filming and chatting with players who were eager to answer questions. Handshakes were exchanged with a closeness that impressed everyone.
“Brother, we had to fight through a lot this year. Seeing this trophy feels amazing. When the final whistle blew, I could finally relax. Thank God, brother. I think of my parents, the sacrifices they made, and all the obstacles we overcame. I heard Bad Bunny was incredible, can’t wait to see him now. The Puerto Rican flag is flying high. We’re going to have a good night, that’s all I’m saying,” said an emotional Federico Maranges, the Seahawks’ Puerto Rican center, who did not play in the Super Bowl.
Players share gratitude and global dreams
“Incredible, I’m speechless. I’m so grateful for my teammates, they’re my best friends. This moment is unbelievable,” said Eric Saubert, Seattle tight end.
“It’s very emotional. This is a team I love deeply. They’re my brothers, and it’s an honor to do this for us. I think of my family, my team, the organization. I’ll celebrate with all of them, together,” added Ty Okada, another Seahawks player.
As the locker room party gradually wound down, the celebration was far from over, promising to continue somewhere in California late into the night.
