Is Dak Prescott leaving Dallas Cowboys for New England Patriots? Rumors ignite in NFL
As the Cowboys seem content to let Dak Prescott walk away, the Patriots are looking to regain dominance in the NFL and he could be the QB to help them.
In recent days, rumors have intensified about the departure of quarterback Dak Prescott from the Dallas Cowboys. So far, all signs indicate that he will change teams at the end of his contract, which concludes at the end of the 2024 season. And why shouldn’t he? If the Cowboys don’t extend, Prescott could very well be another team’s treasure.
All this talk stems from the fact that Prescott has still not entered into negotiations for a contract extension with the NFC East franchise. That immediately set the tone for analyzing the different scenarios and options to consider for Prescott’s future.
According to insider Nick Wright from Fox Sports, Prescott could potentially move to the New England Patriots, who have kept adrift in recent years at the quarterback position. Mac Jones, who they drafted in the first round of the 2021 Draft had a great rookie year, but didn’t exactly shine after that. They currently have the number three pick in the 2024 Draft and are expected to draft one of the top quarterbacks.
Considering that Prescott might be an option, the Patriots might try to trade their number three pick in the NFL Draft with another team, such as Minnesota, in exchange for lower picks, and then seek Prescott at all costs as their new quarterback.
“What if the Patriots traded the pick at No. 3, particularly if Drake Maye is there, because then people want it even more because people seem to love him,” Wright suggested. “Say he’s traded to Minnesota for 11 and 23 and something. Draft a tackle there … draft one of the mini-stud wide receivers in this class at 23, and have the plan be: we’re gonna sign Dak Prescott.”
This information has garnered great support among Patriots fans as they want to return to the forefront of the NFL. For their part, the Cowboys signed quarterback Trey Lance from the San Francisco 49ers in free agency.
