Ja’Marr Chase’s secret addiction that made him the highest paid non-QB in NFL history

The Cincinnati Bengals are aiming for a return trip to the Super Bowl after missing the playoffs last year, and WR Ja’Marr Chase has a secret weapon.

We all have our vices. Something that we wake up thinking about. A reward that we treat ourselves to after a hard days work. That’s no different with athletes, and Ja’Marr Chase is no exception.

Insane for Canes

The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver has recently become the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history after signing a four-year extension worth $161 million. That should go a long way in funding his Raising Cane’s addiction which he admitted he had recently.

Raising Canes is a fried chicken franchise that has a pretty limited menu, but what they do, they do well. If you go to Canes, there’s only one thing you get and that’s the chicken finger meal. That’s enough for Chase who apparently skips out on the toast and orders extra slaw, and of course their world famous sauce.

Chase even worked at a Canes back in 2022 just a few weeks after the Bengals were beaten in the Super Bowl by the Los Angeles Rams. His job is pretty secure in Cincy for the next few years, but if he wants to start investing in a few franchises he’s got more than enough money to get into the chick business.

Enough Canes to go around

In fact, with his average yearly salary of over $40 million, Chase could but everyone of the 65,515 fans at Paycor Stadium a large meal which runs around $16 for each the Bengals nine home games this year, and still have almost $39.5 million left over.

Chase isn’t the only football player with a vice that might be considered out of the norm for an elite athlete. New Pittsburgh Steelers WR DK Metcalf says he eats two to three big bags of candy a day. Former Bengal Chad “OchoCinco” Johnson says he used to eat McDonalds everyday and credit the fast food joint from preventing injuries.

It worked pretty well for OchoCinco, and the Canes addiction isn’t going too bad for Ja’Marr Chase who is considered one of the best receivers in the league. He had a career year with Cincy last year, completing the triple crown with 1,708 yards on 127 receptions and 17 TDs.
