Jerry Jones’ viral comment to Micah Parsons’ mom adds twist to contract drama
A viral video from the Cowboys’ preseason game Friday showed owner Jerry Jones sharing a lighthearted moment with Micah Parsons’ mom amidst contract drama.
Things have been getting ugly in Dallas as contract talks have completely stalled between Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and star edge rusher Micah Parsons. With Parsons requesting a trade, Jones stirring the pot with his comments to the media, and Parsons showing his displeasure in various ways (like napping on the training table during their last preseason game), the atmosphere has been tense in Dallas.
But Jones still found a way to lighten things up and bring a little humor into the mix when he saw Parsons’ mother at the Cowboys’ final preseason game on Friday.
Micah Parsons’ mom meets Jerry Jones and he couldn’t resist a joke
As the regular season approaches, Cowboys fans are getting more and more concerned that a deal still hasn’t been done with Parsons, the team’s best defensive linebacker. On Friday, Parsons was spotted eating nachos and napping on the training table, causing more controversy.
On Monday, he was absent from the Cowboys’ open practice.
However, a viral video from Friday’s preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons between Jones and Parsons’ mother brought a lighter moment amidst all the tension.
With Parsons still holding out for a contract extension, Jones quipped, “Now, Micah, why aren’t you out there playing? You act like you want some money or something!”
With the Cowboys’ Week 1 opener against the Philadelphia Eagles just a week and a half away, the viral exchange offered a rare touch of humor in what has otherwise been a tense standoff over Parsons’ future.
