Update:

Heading into the Los Angeles Chargers’ crucial Week 14 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, all eyes are on Justin Herbert after a recent hand injury.

Despite undergoing surgery this week to address a fracture in his left (non-throwing) hand, Herbert remains officially listed as questionable. As such, the decision on whether he’ll start Monday night remains uncertain.

Herbert sustained the injury during a game against the Las Vegas Raiders, when a tackler landed on his left hand and forced him out briefly. After returning to help secure a 31–14 win, he underwent surgery the following day, and admitted to receiving a plate and screws to stabilise the fracture.

In the days since, Herbert has taken part in multiple practice sessions, albeit with limitations. The coaching staff appears optimistic about his chances of playing, but final confirmation will likely come close to kickoff.

That’ll be a point of emphasis this week‚” Harbaugh said last week when asked about Herbert’s availability, adding of the player that “there’s never any grimace or flinch, it’s pretty amazing.”

With a currently solid 8–4 record, the Chargers sit in playoff contention and can not afford a derailment now. Herbert has thrown for 2,842 yards this season, with 21 touchdown passes and a 66.9% completion rate, hugely impressive numbers that have helped drive L.A.’s success.
