Kyle Shanahan, 49ers HC, doesn’t hold back on Tre’von Moehrig: “The guy took a cheap shot and hit him in the balls”
The San Francisco 49ers coach hit out at Tre’von Moehrig in a scathing admission.

In the immediate aftermath of their much-needed 20-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers, the San Francisco 49ers found themselves embroiled in more than just the scoreboard.
Coach Kyle Shanahan did not mince words when discussing an incident involving wide receiver Jauan Jennings and Panthers safety Tre’von Moehrig, labelling the latter’s late-game move as a “cheap shot” after video showed him apparently striking Jennings in the groin region.
According to the sequence, late in Monday Night Football, Jennings was seen urging referees to throw a flag after Moehrig made contact below the belt. Shortly thereafter, Jennings retaliated in the post-game scrum with a clear shove to Moehrig’s face mask.

“I was really proud of Jauan for not losing his mind”
Shanahan backed his player’s composure, calling out Moehrig’s action and praising Jennings for keeping calm. “I was really proud of Jauan for not losing his mind out there and getting to the sideline,” Shanahan said.
Jennings himself described the groin shot as coming “out of nowhere,” adding that “I think it’s probably just like I was saying, just the history of me playing ball. I play hard. I’m physically stronger than a lot of DBs out there and a lot of things happen in between the whistles. With me at least.”
On the side of the debate, Moehrig maintained that Jennings had been “pushing” and “talking crazy,” calling his own actions “isolated” and accepting that a fine was likely.
Will Tre’von Moehrig be suspended by the NFL?
Panthers head coach Dave Canales said he would need to examine the game footage and discuss the incident directly with Moehrig. As for a punishment, there is in fact a precedent for this type of incident.
