Madden NFL 26 snub sees Mahomes react

The 49ers star has made clear his feelings on not being the top QB on the famous video game.

Update:

Three Super Bowl finals in a row weren’t enough for the Madden NFL creators to make Patrick Mahomes the highest-rated quarterback in the game. He’s not even number two, nor is he third.

Mahomes is rated 95 in the upcoming game, behind a trio of quarterbacks: Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals. Allen and Jackson both hold the highest possible rating of 99, while Burrow is rated at 97.

In the 2024 season, Patrick Mahomes put nearly 3,930 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and an impressive 67.5% completion rate. As for his peers, Joe Burrow posted slightly higher passing yards (4,200) and touchdowns (34); Josh Allen showcased his dual-threat ability best, combining over 4,300 passing yards and 31 touchdowns; Lamar Jackson had a different profile with around 3,100 passing yards and 23 touchdowns.

‘I like playing Madden, so I would like to be rated higher’

And now he has had his say. Mahomes spoke to the press regarding his rating, and chose diplomacy over war: “I like playing Madden, so I would like to be rated higher. But I’ve got to play and showcase that stuff on the field. I believe that if I go out there and play the football I want to play, we can get to 99 pretty quickly.”

Preseason is almost here, and the Chiefs will play against the Cardinals, Mahomes admitted that “I don’t necessarily look forward to getting hit,” adding with a smile that “I always like getting hit once [in the preseason], but it’s still a shock. I’m just excited to see where we’re at.”

Mahomes also revealed that he will not opt to bring his own smelling salts to games this season, a decision that comes after the NFL banned teams from “providing or supplying ammonia in any form” at games.

However, the QB admitted that he was “not a big smelling salts guy,” adding that “I’m not really hitting people, though. I know people do use those and not for bad reasons. It’s to get ready to go. I’m sure some people figure out a way to get the smelling salts out there. It’s a vital part of the game.”
