Cowboys improve to 2-0 with defeat over Jets
The Dallas Cowboys beat another New York team this week as they improve to 2-0 on the season with their 30-10 defeat over the New York Jets. The Jets fall to 1-1.
Zach Wilson's second chance ended in disappointment
The Jets were playing with backup QB Zach Wilson after having picked up Aaron Rodgers and putting all their hope into him only to lose him for the whole season in the first half of the game Week 1. Wilson, who had a rough start to his NFL career, was given a second chance to prove himself. Though he helped lead the Jets to an OT victory last week, his performance this week was less than hopeful, going 12-of-27 for 170 yards for one touchdown, three interceptions and three sacks.
Dominant Dallas Defense
We can't give Wilson all the credit though - the Dallas defense is insanely good. If you thought it was a fluke after their 40-0 beating of the Giants in Week 1, you'd have a hard time seeing it that way after their performance this week.
The Cowboys' defense is so stacked with elite players that almost all of them did something to directly contribute to turnovers or big plays. Micah Parsons had two sacks, three tackles for a loss, and four QB hits. Osa Odighizuwa had one sack, one tackle for a loss, and one QB hit. Trevon Diggs, Malik Hooker, and Jayron Kearse all had one interception.
Prescott finally gets his TD passes
Dak Prescott didn't account for much in the Cowboys' season opener victory against the Giants, failing to pass for a single touchdown while the defense did most of the work. This week, however, he made up for it, going 31-of-38 for 255 yards and two touchdown passes.
What's next?
The Cowboys have now scored 70 points and allowed just 10 in the first two games of the season. They will take on the Arizona Cardinals in Phoenix next week.
As for the Jets, they will look to improve when they host the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

But though it was messy, they got down to the red zone and with a little help from the Jets' penalties, made it into the end zone. It was a Prescott pass to Schoonmaker one yard that got them the touchdown. With just under 2 minutes to go in the half, they decided to go for two. One way the Jets could take advantage of Cowboys weak spot
The Dallas defense proved last weak that they don't have a lot of weak spots. But "not a lot" is not none. The Cowboys are strong in almost every defensive area except stopping the run.
Last year in the regular season, the Cowboys defense gave up at least 106 rushing yards in 11 of 17 games and at least 136 in all five of the games they lost. Against the Giants on Sunday, they gave up 108 rushing yards.
Now that the Jets are without Aaron Rodgers, the run game is something they'll be relying on heavily anyway. And that means Dalvin Cook and Breece Hall are the guys. Hall had 102 yards in his first two carries against the Bills last week. If those two can keep up the efficiency, it will be their best chance at beating the 'Boys.
2 key matchups to watch in Cowboys vs Jets
Zach Martin vs Quinnen Williams
Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams was one of the most impactful defensive players in their Week 1 win over the Bills. Cowboys guard Zach Martin will be in charge of making sure Williams doesn't get close to Dak Prescott. The two are both top players in their respective positions so it will be a fun matchup to watch.
Michael Gallup vs Sauce Gardner
Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup will be the go-to WR2 with Brandin Cooks out with a knee injury this week. He'll have to get past Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner first though. 6'3, 200-pound Sauce won Defensive Rookie of the Year last year, but struggled against Bills' receiver Stefon Diggs last week. This week, Gallup will try to give him that same struggle while proving his worth as a WR2.
The Cowboys fans have arrived.
This is how every game at the AT&T Stadium looks though.

Cowboys defensive numbers from Week 1
The Dallas Cowboys had one of their most dominant performances in franchise history last week with their 40-0 win over the New York Giants. It was the largest margin of victory in a shutout in franchise history, the largest Week 1 margin of victory in a shutout in NFL history since 1999, and even the first shutout of the Giants in a season opener since 1995 (35-0). And the majority of that effort was the Dallas defense. Let's take a look at where they stood after that beatdown:
No. 2 total defense (171 yards)
No. 1 pass defense (63 yards)
No. 1 points against (0)
No. 1 sacks (7)
No. 1 sack yards (-47)
No. 1 (tied) forced fumbles (5)
No. 1 (tied) turnover differential (+3)
And all of that was without Jourdan Lewis and Donovan Wilson, who were both out with injuries last week. Wilson will be out again this week, but Lewis will be back.
Zuerlein ruled out vs Cowboys
The Jets kicker Greg Zuerlein has been ruled out for the game against his former team after suffering a groin injury.
The Jets didn't have a backup to turn to on the practice squad and so signed Austin Seibert, who finished with 100% accuracy on PATs and 60% on field goal attempts in 2022 with the Lions.
Zach Wilson gets second chance
The Jets lost Aaron Rodgers way too early in the season and now it's up to Zach Wilson to prove himself worthy of being an NFL starting quarterback.
Wilson had a rough start to the big leagues after being drafted No. 2 overall out of BYU in the 2021 NFL Draft. He started just nine games last season and then the Jets decided to draft Rodgers in hopes of turning their fate around. As it stands, they haven't made a playoff game in 12 years, the longest drought of any NFL team. Though things didn't work out with Rodgers, he did spend several months mentoring Wilson, which could pay off this season.
Cowboys vs Jets - Where do they stand?
The Cowboys and Jets are both 1-0 to start the season but had very different Week 1s.
The Cowboys had a dominant performance over NFC East rivals New York Giants with a 40-0 shutout. It was mostly the defense who did the work, while QB Dak Prescott will look for his first touchdown today against the Jets.
The Jets won their season opener in overtime, but with that win came one big loss as QB Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles and will be out for the rest of the NFL regular season. Now, they'll have Zach Wilson at the helm as he looks for redemption with a second chance as the starter.
