After the Chicago Bears brought the curtain up on the 2024 NFL preseason by beating the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame Game at the start of August, all 32 franchises are in action this week. As teams limber up for the new season, which is due to get going on September 5, preseason week 1 begins with two games on Thursday August 8, before a further three are played on Friday 9.

7pm ET/4pm PT: Atlanta Falcons vs Miami Dolphins

Watch the Falcons vs the Dolphins on FOX 5, NFL+ and fubo.

In one of two 7pm kick-offs on Friday, the Atlanta Falcons visit the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. After again missing out on the playoffs in 2023 - they were only the 12th-best team in the NFC conference - the Falcons have hired Raheem Morris as their new head coach, in place of the fired Arthur Smith. Morris was on the coaching staff the last time the Falcons made it to the Super Bowl, in 2016. The season that followed that historic loss to the New England Patriots remains the last time Atlanta made it into the NFL postseason.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, are still without a win in the playoffs since all the way back in 2000. The Floridians reached the Wild Card round last year, only to lose 26-7 to the eventual Super Bowl winners, the Kansas City Chiefs.

7pm ET/4pm PT: Houston Texans vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Watch the Texans vs the Steelers on KTRK - ABC13, HoustonTexans.com, KDKA, NFL+ and fubo.

In their maiden campaign under head coach DeMeco Ryans, the Houston Texans reached the Divisional playoffs in 2023, having won the AFC South division for the first time since 2019. A franchise that has so far never reached the Super Bowl, the Texans were beaten 45-14 by the Baltimore Ravens.

Houston face a Steelers team that is heading into its 18th season under the stewardship of head coach Mike Tomlin. The 52-year-old led Pittsburgh to the franchise’s only Super Bowl victory in 2008, but in recent seasons the Pennsylvanians have struggled to make an impact on the postseason. Indeed, their last win in a playoff game was nearly a decade ago, in 2015.

7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT: Philadelphia Eagles vs Baltimore Ravens

Watch the Eagles vs the Ravens on COZI, WMAR-TV, NFL+ and fubo.

Beaten in the Super Bowl in the 2022 season, the Eagles were eliminated in the Wild Card round last year, having finished the regular season with the fifth-best record in the NFC conference. Philadelphia are preparing for their fourth season under head coach Nick Sirianni, who thus far has not failed to take the team into the postseason.

The Eagles go to Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, where they’ll face a Ravens side that had the best record in the AFC conference in the last regular season, securing their first AFC North division title since 2019. Baltimore proceeded to make it though to the AFC Championship Game for the first time since they last won the Super Bowl - in 2012 - but a 17-10 defeat to the Chiefs denied them a spot in the 2023 title decider.
