Update:

Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season saw AFC duo the Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) and the Buffalo Bills (10-2) become the first two teams to clinch their places in the playoffs, the latter’s big win over the San Francisco 49ers at Highmark Stadium leaving last year’s Super Bowl runners-up with serious work to do to even reach the postseason this time around.

AFC playoff picture

As for the rest of conference, the Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3) and Houston Texans (8-5) lead the way in AFC North and South respectively, with the Los Angeles Chargers (8-4), Baltimore Ravers (8-5) and Denver Broncos (8-5) currently occupying the wild card spots.

The Indianapolis Colts (6-7), Miami Dolphins (5-7) and Cincinnati Bengals (4-8) are on the bubble but must put together a string of wins between Weeks 14 and 18 to force themselves into the postseason.

In NFC, we’re still waiting for our first qualifiers to be confirmed. The Detroit Lions (11-1) lead the way in NFC North but, despite their superb record, are being pushed all the way by the Minnesota Vikings (10-2) and the Green Bay Packers (9-3).

The Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) are in a commanding position in NFC East, although the Seattle Seahawks (7-5) and the Atlanta Falcons (6-6), the current leaders in NFCs West and South, could quite easily be overtaken before Week 18.

In addition to the Vikings and the Packers, the Washington Commanders (8-5) are in a wild card position at present, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6), the Arizona Cardinals (6-6) and the Los Angeles Rams (6-6) in the hunt.

The 49ers (5-7) are bottom of NFC West as it stands but could still win the division with if they can turn their form around (a big ‘if’ at the moment).
