Update:

When Tom Brady, then aged 43, led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to an unlikely triumph at Super Bowl LIV, many thought that he had wrapped up the title of ‘Greatest Quarterback of All Time’.

However not everyone is in agreement. While Brady’s seven championship rings is undoubtedly an incredible achievement, others prefer some of the more elegant QBs of the past.

Speaking recently, NFL veteran and two-time Super Bowl champion Von Miller made his pick for quarterback GOAT. In an appearance on the Glory Daze podcast, Miller revealed that he would go for a former teammate instead.

“Obviously, there’s gonna be a debate between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, who was the best,” Miller said. “For me, it’ll always be Peyton Manning. He changed the quarterback position [in terms of] changing the play. He wasn’t scrambling or doing none of that stuff. He did it all with his arm, and it was beautiful, man.”

“He’s so humble,” Miller continued. “He knew every single guy in the facility, whether it was the janitors, all the coaches. He had a personal relationship with everybody.”

“He was truly the first person in the building. Whenever you pulled up, you’d see his Buick because he had the Buick deal. I had a fundraiser event for Von’s Vision, he was there. He was all about his guys, all about his teammates.”

But have those fond memories clouded Miller’s memory? Tom Brady’s seven Super Bowl wins are unmatched and he was the centerpiece of the most dominant NFL team of all-time. Peyton Manning’s two rings pale in comparison to that incredible championship haul, but he does have a few records of his own.

Manning is still the only player to be crowned the league’s Most Valuable Player on five occasions and he still holds the single-season records for touchdowns (55) and passing yards (5,477).

He became the first player to win two Super Bowls as the starting quarterback, doing so with the Broncos in 2015. That was the last game of his stellar career, played alongside Von Miller.
