Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett will be back in the game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Acrisure Stadium after clearing concussion protocols.

For their Week 15 game, the Steelers had to turn to quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who did a good job at the controls against the Carolina Panthers, defeating them by a score of 24-16.

“He did a very good job guarding the ball and playing within the game plan and planned approach that we had prescribed for that opponent,” said coach Mike Tomlin.

Trubisky completed 17 of 22 passes for 179 yards, scoring 3 touchdowns (one scored by Trubisky himself).

Freezing weather expected for Saturday’s game at Acrisure Stadium

Pickett will return just in time for the 50th anniversary of the so-called ‘Immaculate Reception’, but inclement weather is expected at Acrisure Stadium, as the temperature is expected to be around -13.3 degrees at the start of the game (with a wind chill of -20 degrees).

Dealing with Pittsburgh weather

Tomlin says they recognize that the weather could have an effect on their game on Saturday night. He admits that this is what life is like in the National Football League, specifically in Pittsburgh.

“I think everyone who lives here and plays here understands and accepts that,” said the coach.

Tomlin said that Pickett’s five years of experience with the Pittsburgh Panthers in college football will help him deal with the weather that is forecast for the weekend.

I think that’s an example (Pickett) that we often cite when looking at people in draft preparation,” concluded the coach.
