Report: Aaron Donald signs a two-year contract extension with the LA Rams
The 2022 Super Bowl champions are set to announce soon that Aaron Donald will sign a $65 million contract extension that could run through 2024.
Aaron Donald is set to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in National Football League history once the LA Rams confirm the news. According to several reports, the 2022 Super Bowl champions have offered their star defensive player a two-year contract extension that is worth more than $60 million.
The official announcement will be made in the next couple of days and Donald will be guaranteed $65 million for the next two seasons and it could go up to $95 million if he plays in 2024. The 31-year-old was fundamental in helping the Rams win the Super Bowl last season and he was considering retirement after lifting the Lombardi Trophy.
Busy off-season for the LA Rams
The Los Angeles-based franchise is trying to manage their salary cap due to the amount of players that were brought in over the past two years. The Rams wanted to retain quarterback Matthew Stafforrd, defensive lineman Aaron Donald and wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
Stafford has already agreed to a four-year contract extension with the LA Rams that is worth $160 million and $135 million of which is guaranteed. Up next is Aaron Donald, who is one signature away, and then they will sit down with Copper Kup to extend his stay in Los Angeles.
