Rich Eisen is fuming over NFL officiating: This is what he said about the Chiefs and Mahomes on his podcast
NFL Network’s Rich Eisen went off on the referees who were officiating the AFC Championship game the the Kansas City Chiefs won over the Buffalo Bills.

The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to the Super Bowl for the third straight year following their win over the the Buffalo Bills, but, as has been the case for the last few years, the referring has been called into question. This time, it’s not an opponent or another player around the league. This time it’s NFL Network personality Rich Eisen.
Chiefs get a lot of calls, claims Eisen
Eisen, who is one of the top dogs at NFL Network, if not the biggest name the network has on their books went on his podcast on Monday morning and ripped the refs of the Bills-Chiefs game. There were a couple of close calls in Sunday night’s game from Arrowhead that seemed to go in favor of the Chiefs, but one specific call really stood out in the mind of Eisen.
The Bills were up 22-21 early in the 4th quarter and driving into Chiefs territory when they were faced with a 4th and 1 play from the KC 41 yard line. Buffalo QB Josh Allen took the snap and tried a tush push, but was ruled short of the line to gain. After review the call was confirmed by the refs and the Chiefs got the ball and took the lead with a Patrick Mahomes TD run five plays later.

When talking to his co-host Chris Brockman, the fourth down play came under debate, Eisen claimed “It’s Chiefs fatigue. The Chiefs do get a lot of calls. Patrick Mahomes is somebody that gets calls, and a lot of people think he doesn’t need them.” Brockman replied saying, “Every incompletion you just holding your breath that you don’t see the flag” as the two seemed to agree that teams have to overly cautious when playing Kansas City.
New tech to come in NFL?
There has been a running narrative throughout the KC dynasty over the last six years that the refs have been siding with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, and there have been more instances than just the AFC Championship game in which calls made by the refs have been questioned by those around the league. The two roughing the quarterback calls called on the Houston Texans came under heavy scrutiny and not just from Texans players, but from multiple players both current and former that considered the calls to be favoring the two-time champions.
Eisen went on to suggest that there needs to be a more technologically advanced, fool proof system implemented in the league for situations like the one that played out in Arrowhead on Sunday night. “If you could put a chip in the football…. We could actually pinpoint it down to the millimeter where the football should be, and whether it is a first down or not.”
Officiating has been a talking point in #ChiefsKingdom games all year but the biggest question after Sunday: is it time for technology to take over making the call on a close first down?#NFL #SBLIX pic.twitter.com/vn28G0Zr7e

That wasn’t the only call up for question on Sunday night from GEHA Field. A 3rd and 5 play that went to replay after Xavier Worthy was ruled to have caught a long pass inside the Bills 5 yard line was confirmed despite the ball having hit the ground only added to those who think there is a ref bias for the two time defending champions. KC went on to score a TD just a few plays later and take a 21-10 lead late in the first half.
