Super Bowl 2025 LIX logo reveals which teams will make it to the NFL final based on the color theory
Conspiracy theorists already have an idea of which NFL teams could feature at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in February.
Congratulations, fans of the Seattle Seahawks! Your team is going to Super Bowl LIX! Well, that was our main takeaway from the NFL revealing the Super Bowl 2025 logo early last year, something that conspiracy theorists believe is a surefire predictor of the two participants in the end-of-season championship game. If you didn’t already know, it all comes down to colors.
What does the Super Bowl LIX logo represent?
This year’s game will be played in New Orleans, which prompted the NFL to partner with a local artist for the first time when designing the logo. Tahj Williams, the queen of her Black Masking Indian tribe, created the logo with beads, with the league uploading a minute-long video to its social media accounts showing just how Williams did it.
The end result, a nod to the wrought-iron balconies seen along New Orleans’ French Quarter, is mainly red and green but is actually multi-colored on closer inspection, which complicates forecasting which two teams might be making their way to Louisiana in early February. But that didn’t stop us from trying.
What is the Super Bowl logo conspiracy theory?
The conspiracy theory began in 2022, when the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams reached Super Bowl LVI, whose logo was predominantly red and yellow. The following year, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs faced off the in the championship game, which just so happened to have a green and red logo. You see where this is going, right?
Unfortunately for supporters of the theory, two teams that normally play in red, the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, made it to the Super Bowl in 2024, although that was at least one of the colors in the logo. With purple being the other, some incorrectly expected the Minnesota Vikings or the Baltimore Ravens to feature in Las Vegas, although the Marylanders did at least reach the AFC Championship Game.
Does that kill the argument? Perhaps, although five out of six is still not bad... and we love these things.
Which teams will make it to the NFL final in 2025?
A quick glance at logo for Super Bowl LIX and you’ll see the main colors are red and bright green…or are they? Does the purple background count or should we focus just on the Roman numerals?
For the sake of argument, let’s say the aforementioned Seahawks could have been in because of the bright green patterns on said numerals. But obviously we’ve misread it given they didn’t make the playoffs. So, who’s still in with a chance of keeping our plot alive?
Another chance for Chiefs?
The Eagles could make an argument for that green shade. Red also dominates, which means the Chiefs could be in line for a first-ever three-peat. But take a closer look and you’ll see shades of orange mixed in with red and pink, which could have offered hope to the Denver Broncos but we’ve just lost them to the Bills. And so we’d do pretty well to decide to count that purple background, so the Ravens are now in with a chance, assuming they can take care of Josh Allen and co.
Caesers Superdome in New Orleans will host its eighth Super Bowl on 9 February 2025 and already holds the record for number of championship games. It was originally due to be the venue for the 2024 game but after the NFL added an extra week to the schedule in 2021, it was moved to Las Vegas as the game would have overlapped with Mardi Gras, celebrated in the city every year. Chiefs vs Eagles, anyone?
