Ten-year NFL veteran announces retirement to enroll in film school
After leaving the San Francisco 49ers at the end of the 2024 season the 32-year-old is planning something very different.

For professional athletes, finding a career after retiring from the sport that they had dedicated themselves to can be tough. But Chris Conley seems to have his post-NFL life all planned out.
On Saturday Conley announced his retirement from the NFL, calling time on a professional career that had taken him to Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans and the San Francisco 49ers.
On Instagram he wrote: “When i was a kid i wrote down a set of goals. On that list was “Play 10 years in the NFL”. Now that this goal has been accomplished it’s time to set sights on something new."
“The past 10 years have been a dream. Getting the opportunity to play in the league was an honor and whether it was catching touchdowns or blocking for them i truly gave it my all.”
Next up for Conley, a career in film. ESPN reports that he will return to his alma mater, Georgia, to attend film school. He has previously posted photos on his Instagram that show him working with camera equipment. As of Saturday, June 7, his Instagram bio reads: ‘Girl dad. Filmmaker.’
Conley was a third-round pick for the Chiefs at the 2015 NFL Draft and he went on to play 132 games in his NFL career. His best season came in 2019 with the Jaguars, when he finished with a career-high 47 catches, 775 yards and five touchdowns.
