While injuries may be an unfortunately common part of the game, nobody likes to see them especially when they are seemingly severe in nature. Yet, there is a positive in this story in that Tennessee’s pass-catcher looks to be doing better already.

Titans’ Treylon Burks recovering after fall

If you saw Week 9′s Thursday Night Football clash between the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers, then you definitely saw the chilling moment in which Titans wide receiver, Treylon Burks suffered a serious fall after a near-catch on the left sideline. Indeed, the play occurred on a fourth down-and-4 pass from rookie quarterback Will Levis with 2:16 remaining on the clock in what turned out to be a 20-16 loss for the Titans. Players, coaches, and fans alike could only look on in worry as Burks did not get up after diving for the ball. Indeed, the 23-year-old had to be carted off the field though he did appear to give a thumbs up as he was.

Following the game, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel gave a positive update on Burks, explaining that the former first-round pick was conscious and aware. “Trey is alert, moving, and I’ll have more of an update, hopefully tomorrow,” Vrabel said. “The way it looked...he’s alert and the training room will evaluate him.” It was also reported that Burks was able to walk on his own when leaving the locker room and without assistance. Further to that, it’s understood that he spoke with one of the Titan’s coaches before stepping onto the team bus.

How did Treylon Burks’ injury occur?

As mentioned above it was on a fourth down and with little time left in the game when Levis let fly a deep bomb. Burks, in typical fashion, attempted to haul in what would have been a sensational catch but for some contact at the point of reception. Sadly, the awkward position of his body in the air did not allow for him to break his fall as can be seen in the clip below. We can only hope for his speedy and full recovery.
