The Cleveland Browns bet big on Shedeur Sanders – here’s why
Cleveland leans fully into its rookie experiment as Shedeur Sanders holds the starting job through a difficult final stretch of the season.

Shedeur Sanders will remain the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns for the rest of the season, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed. Sanders had been projected as a first-round pick ahead of last spring’s draft, but the former Colorado standout slid all the way to the fifth round.
“I think he has steadily and consistently improved in each of these games. He has worked very hard and I feel good about his development,” Stefanski said.

Sanders has grown
The 23-year-old is now trying to prove he deserves a longer-term future with the team. So far, he is 1-2 as a pro; the rookie has thrown for 769 yards, completed 52.4 percent of his passes with five touchdowns, and has been picked off three times.
He began the season as the fourth option on the quarterback depth chart, behind Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. Sanders made his first start against the Las Vegas Raiders on November 23, after Gabriel suffered a concussion the previous week.

In Week 14, in the game against the Tennessee Titans, he delivered his best performance since arriving in the NFL, throwing for 364 yards with three touchdowns and one interception and adding a rushing score, despite the 31–29 defeat.
Who do Browns still have to play?
The Browns are out of playoff contention, sitting at 3-10 and facing one of the league’s toughest remaining schedules, with games lined up against the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals.
