Update:

The Kansas City Chiefs have become the NFL’s dominant force in the last five years, in which they have reached the Super Bowl on four occasions, winning three times. Not everybody is especially happy about it, with a growing number of fans (of other teams) believing borderline calls are regularly going the way of Patrick Mahomes and Co.

Chiefs on the right side of controversial calls

They includes Mahomes getting a call for a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness in the Divisional Round against the Houston Texans, which raised plenty of eyebrows, including those of NFL Commentator Rich Eisen, who called the decision “unacceptable”.

In last weekend’s AFC Championship Game, Buffalo Bills quarterback QB Josh Allen took a snap and tried a tush push, but was ruled short of the line to gain. After review the call was confirmed by the refs and the Chiefs got the ball and took the lead with a Mahomes TD run five plays later.

That again drew the attention of Eisen, who claimed on Monday that “the Chiefs do get a lot of calls”. Comedian Bill Burr, a guest on The Rich Eisen show, went even further, hinting it’s in the NFL’s best interests for Kansas City to win, and that the league could fix their games without the threat of legal action.

Line judge the target of bias claims after Bills vs Chiefs

It’s a point of discussion that will only intensify in the run-up to the Super Bowl. And the conspiracy theories continue to grow in the aftermath of the Chiefs’ controversial victory over the Bills.

Line judge Patrick Holt has been accused of bias towards the eventual winners by Buffalo fans, who appear to have done a substantial amount of research on him.

Holt spotted the ball in the aforementioned innocent with Allen, which took place when the Bills were 22-21 ahead in the fourth quarter. It was ruled short of the line, which a video replay upheld despite the general belief being the quarterback had notched the first down.

After some social media digging, it has been discovered Holt is a fan of the Baltimore Ravens, which who lost to the Bills in the Division Round this year. Was this way of getting revenge?

Additionally, more online investigating discovered the line judge has relatives in Kansas City (based on a picture of him at family lunch).

Is that enough to prove something sinister went on to ensure the Chiefs reached the NFL Championship Game? Skeptics will tell you the Philadelphia Eagles had better hope Holt doesn’t get the call for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on February 9, when they will look to stop a seemingly “inevitable” Chiefs three-peat.
