Uncertain future, big stage: Here are the 11 LIV golfers expected at the 2026 PGA Championship
The second Major of the year features arguably the strongest field in golf, with 156 players set to tee off at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania this weekend.

The second golf major of 2026 gets underway this weekend us as the world’s best players head to Aronimink Golf Club for the 2026 PGA Championship.
Five of the last nine major tournaments have been won by either Scottie Scheffler or Rory McIlroy with the pair set to battle with a string field that will include 11 players from the Saudi Arabia backed LIV Golf circuit.

LIV uncertainty
The uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf has reached a critical point due to a series of major developments in the first half of 2026. The primary driver is a fundamental shift in its financial backing and leadership.
Last month, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) officially confirmed it will cease all funding for LIV Golf following the conclusion of the 2026 season. Since its launch in 2022, the PIF has been the sole benefactor, investing an estimated $5 billion to $6 billion. The withdrawal is attributed to a shift in Saudi investment priorities and a reported $73 billion budget deficit within the kingdom.
For the players, the uncertainty is personal and professional. With the funding tap being turned off, major stars like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm are facing a crossroads as the ponder the future of their careers.
PGA invitation
For the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club, there are 11 LIV golfers in the field. Originally, 12 players were set to compete, but Phil Mickelson (a two-time champion) withdrew shortly before the tournament due to family health matters.
