The negative record that Patrick Mahomes set in Super Bowl LIX: one of the worst nights of his career
It’s been a rough night for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as his side struggled against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

The Kansas City Chiefs came into Super Bowl LIX riding high off of two Super Bowl championships in a row. They were quickly brought back down to earth when the Philadelphia Eagles proved to be a more challenging opponent than they expected, shutting them out through nearly three quarters of the game.
In fact, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had one of the worst games of his career against the dominant Eagles defense. He set a personal record in his career that he would prefer to forget.
Patrick Mahomes sets personal record in Super Bowl LIX
Throughout his eight-year career with the Chiefs, Mahomes has broken all kinds of impressive NFL records. However, the one he set while playing against the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX was not so impressive. At least...not positively so.
One of the things Mahomes does best is find ways to make plays happen and escape pressure. He couldn’t do that tonight. Instead, Mahomes was sacked a record six times by the Eagles defense.

Before tonight, the most times Mahomes was sacked in one game was five times, which happened three times, once in his second season in the league (2018), and the other two this season. The five sacks he suffered this season came against the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panrthers.
Against the Eagles, Mahomes was sacked by Josh Sweat two and a half times, Milton Williams twice, once by Jordan Davis, and Jalyx Hunt recorded half a sack. The Chiefs ended up losing 40-22 to the Eagles to miss the three-peat feat.
