Update:

When the Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII, they did so off the back of a dominant defensive unit known as the 'Legion of Boom‘.

As the team looks to add a second-ever NFL championship this year, the Seahawks can once again lay claim to the league’s most miserly defense. Given the nickname ‘Dark Side’, the 2025 Seahawks lead the league for defensive scoring and have drawn praise from the man that many call the GOAT.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s divisional round matchups, Tom Brady picked out the Seattle defense for particular praise. In an appearance on ‘The Herd’, Brady said: “They’ve got one of the most underrated defensive lines in the league. I think their interior defensive line is phenomenal.”

“There’s a reason they were the top-scoring defense in the league. They’ve just really suffocated these offenses by taking the space and making the field feel like it’s so much smaller. So, they haven’t allowed a 100-yard rusher in a season and a half or something like that.”

49ers prepared for Seahawks rematch

The Seahawks’ league-leading defense was enough to finish top of the NFC West with a 14-3 record on the season. On Saturday they take on the San Francisco 49ers in the playoff division round.

These two teams met on the final day of the regular season, with the Seahawks picking up a 13-3 victory. However that doesn’t mean that Seattle will have it all their own way on Saturday and Brady believes that this hardy San Francisco unit can cause some problems if they catch fire offensively.

“The Niners can do it. They’ve been there before. They’ve played the Seahawks a lot,” Brady explained.

“It’s not like there’s going to be some intimidation. It’s just that, do they have enough firepower? Can they find a way here through complementary football through what they’ve done defensively?"
