Update:

The talk of the 2025 NFL Draft was Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who was shockingly selected in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns after being projected to go in the top ten.

That’s brought up a familiar story of former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who was also selected late in the draft. And he ended up being one of the greatest NFL players of all time. With his experience, he had some words of wisdom to share with the young rookie.

Brady’s word to the wise

Unlike Sanders, Brady wasn’t projected to be a top pick. However, he is still a good example of why the position in the draft doesn’t indicate anything for the future.

Brady is close friends with the Sanders family and revealed that he sent a text message to Shedeur after the draft was over.

“I said, dude, like whatever happens, where ever you go, that’s your first day. Day 2 matters more than the draft,” said Brady. “I was 199, so who can speak on that better than me, what that really means? Use it as motivation. You’re gonna get your chances. Go take advantage of it."

Brady did, however, remind Sanders that he should focus on improving and watching film rather than spending time in his fancy car. If he wants to someday get to Brady’s level, he’d be wise to listen.
