The Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles are set for a Thursday Night showdown to kickoff Week 2 of the NFL regular season. Two playoff teams from last year, who are looking to get back to where they were, and even take a step further will lock horns in an early season conference battle between two NFC heavyweights.

Week 1 recap

The Vikings debut didn’t go as expected last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kirk Cousins lit up the Bucs defense for over 300 yards and Justin Jefferson and 150 yards on nine catches, which is usually a recipe for success for the boys in purple and white, but not on Sunday. Three turnovers, including two Cousin’s interceptions cost the Vikes in front of their home fans and they fell to 0-1 after a 57 yard go ahead field goal from Chase McLaughlin with just over five minutes to play.

The Eagles went to New England and were tested until the very end in a soggy Foxborough Stadium. They jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to Darius Slay Jr.’s pick six. The Pats, took the opening blow and responded with two touchdowns before halftime, and had a chance to win the game on the final drive, but Kayshon Boutte couldn’t drag his second foot down on an attempted fourth down conversion and the defending NFC Champions held on to get a Week 1 win on the road.

Attention now turns to the primetime showdown at Lincoln Financial Field tomorrow night, and both teams will be battling a couple of early season injuries going into the second week of the season.
