Warning issued over Eagles vs Bills clash: “very, very heavy”
With eyes on the postseason, Buffalo host Philadelphia with something on the line, and more in the sky.
The Buffalo Bills’ late-season push for improved playoff positioning may be shaped as much by the sky as by the opposition when they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
A Flood Watch has been issued for the Buffalo area from 1 p.m. ET Sunday through Monday afternoon, placing the warning squarely over the 4:25 p.m. kickoff. Forecast models increasingly suggest that heavy rain could coincide with the game itself, raising concerns about how playable conditions will be inside the 71,870 capacity Highmark Stadium. No, there is no complete roof.
What is the weather forecast for Eagles vs Bills?
Kevin Roth, chief meteorologist at RotoGrinders, believes the risk is real and growing. “I’m increasingly thinking that it absolutely pours all game,” Roth said. “The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch from 1 p.m. Sunday through Monday afternoon, and while that doesn’t necessarily mean the heaviest of the rain comes in-game, it does tell us something about the nature of the rain (very, very heavy).”
High-resolution weather models indicate that some of the most intense rainfall could arrive during game time. While Roth cautioned that timing can still shift more than 24 hours out, he pointed to strong agreement across models as a red flag. “That’s an issue for offense and special teams,” he added.
For Buffalo, the matchup has something at stake. The Bills remain in pursuit of the AFC East title, attempting a late surge with two regular-season games remaining. The Eagles, meanwhile, have already clinched the NFC East and are focused on maintaining rhythm and health entering the postseason.
