What did Bills’ Von Miller and Cowboys’ Micah Parsons have to say about Eagles QB Jalen Hurts?
Whether he has a point or not, it’s now almost certain that Philly’s signal caller is going to have a response to the Cowboys player’s comments.
Plenty has been made of the Philadelphia Eagles and their quarterback this season and given where they currently sit in the league - the top - that seems to be fitting. Yet, not everybody is convinced.
A look at the Eagles and Jalen Hurts
It’s fair to say that the Philadelphia Eagles are currently flying high in the NFL. Last Sunday, Philly dismantled the New York Giants 48-22 to become the first team to clinch a playoff spot for the season, while taking their record to a more than impressive 12-1. At the center of the success has been quarterback Jalen Hurts, who quite frankly is having an MVP type of year.
In truth, one could even argue that the above statement about Hurts doesn’t do justice. As things stand, the Eagles’ signal caller is the first quarterback in NFL history to record double-digit rushing touchdowns in back-to-back seasons, the first player in NFL history with 12 wins, 30-plus total touchdowns and five or fewer turnovers in the first 13 games of a season and has 10 passing touchdowns that have traveled at least 25 yards downfield - that’s tied for second-most in a season since air yards were first started being recorded in 2006, in case you didn’t know. This is all to say, that Hurts is playing top tier football at the moment, but there are some who have their doubts. Indeed, during a recent conversation on his Voncast, Bills pass rusher Von Miller and Cowboys counterpart Micah Parsons questioned whether Hurts is actually worth the hype.
What did Micah Parsons & Von Miller say about Jalen Hurts?
Though his comments weren’t necessarily negative, Parsons’ take on Philly’s QB was still less than complimentary, which leaves us to wonder if he just started something he shouldn’t have. “Is it Hurts or the team?” Parsons asked Miller who in turn responded with “I think it’s a little bit of both, man.” At that point, Parsons tried to clarify his intentions. “I’m not trying to make no enemies,” he said before adding, “I just love the game so much. And I understand it so much that, like, I can’t — when things are off, I just can’t hold it in. I almost gotta say something.”
Ultimately, Parsons did concede that Hurts is “good,” but given what he said before, we’re betting there may be a response forthcoming from Hurts and Co. in the near future. On the other hand, the idea that Hurts is surrounded by a great supporting cast, is a fair point to make. Whether we’re talking about his wide receivers, the running backs or both the offensive and defensive lines, it’s clear that the Eagles are a sum of their parts. Yet, there is no dismissing that without the sensational performance of Hurts this season, the team wouldn’t be where it is. Whatever the case, Parsons’ comments have all but assured that when the Cowboys who are 10-3 meet the Eagles are Christmas Eve, it’s going to be epic.
