John Madden was a legendary NFL coach, broadcaster and entrepreneur who had a net worth of $200 million at the time of his death, as per reports.

The Hall of Fame coach died at the age of 85, on December 28, 2021.

Although Madden had a Super-Bowl-winning career as the Oakland Raiders head coach, he’s probably best known for his charismatic commentating and later his endorsement into one of the most successful video game franchises ever, "Madden NFL."

How much money did John Madden make across his career?

In the late ’80s, Madden signed a deal, roughly worth $8 million, with EA Sports to launch the “Madden NFL Football'' video game series. Since then, ‘Madden NFL’ has sold over 250 million copies, and has contributed significantly to Madden’s financial success.

Madden has been making about $14 million per year from his video game franchise, besides all his work as an iconic broadcaster for all four major networks, Fox, CBS, ABC, and NBC. Madden did spend most of his career at CBS, before he retired in 2009, following a 30-year run in broadcasting.

There were also numerous endorsement deals that supplemented Madden’s earnings as a TV broadcaster, ranging from Miller Lite and Verizon Wireless to Toyota, making Madden one of the very first entertainers to win over $1 million a year.
