What’s the latest with Odell Beckham Jr’s search for a team and what has he said about it?

Having claimed he only wants to play post season football, one has to wonder if the star WR hasn’t put his foot in his mouth.

As football fans wait to hear where the prolific wide receiver will be playing next, it now appears that they will have to wait a little longer as he remains undecided about which team he’d like to join.

Odell Beckham Jr. continues his hunt for a team.

If there’s been one constant over the past few months, it’s been the name of Odell Beckham Jr. and his potential landing spots. The former first-round pick has visited several teams this year following a Super Bowl win with the Los Angeles Rams, but for the moment, the WR is yet to make a final decision on where he will be playing next. It’s also worth mentioning, that a number of the teams with whom he’s had visits have publicly expressed their desire to sign him, namely the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants, but ultimately there has been no final word. Where the Cowboys specifically are concerned, reports suggest that both parties have come to a standstill in recent days with Dallas said to be “figuring out what’s best for (the team) now & in future years,” while Beckham is also “figuring out what’s best now and in future years.”

The Giants on the other hand, are reportedly keeping their offer to Beckham on the table without any augmentation. Then, there are the Baltimore Ravens, who, according to reports have postponed their end-of-week visit with the player while he rethinks his options. This is all to say, that at present Beckham is going nowhere. Whether that’s because he’s indecisive or his market value isn’t what he thought, we can’t say, but the end result is the same.

What has Odell Beckham Jr said?

There’s another side to Beckham’s situation which likely hasn’t helped his case and that’s his own comments. Speaking earlier this week on an episode of “The Shop,” Beckham was asked directly if he had decided on a team, as well as whether he was ready to go following a tenth month absence after tearing his ACL in the Super Bowl.

“I haven’t made the decision, and for me it’s like, I would like to be in a stable environment, get up [at] 6 a.m., leave at 6 p.m. for four weeks and then let’s talk about it,” Beckham said. “I’ve played football for a long time. I’m not saying that I couldn’t step in and play regular season, but I don’t see the point. I really don’t. I’d rather play when that pressure’s on. I’d rather play when the lights [are] on. I went through the whole playoffs and after having my first bad playoff experience, all I was ready for was to clear that off my name.”

Is Odell Beckham Jr’s position feasible?

Here’s the thing: While one can understand the idea of a veteran picking and choosing his moments, the game of football is as high pressure as it gets and one in which it’s all hands-on deck. That’s before we even address the question of whether Beckham can actually return to the level he had in the past, following an ACL tear. Where ‘word on the street’ is concerned, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons recently said that Beckham told him that he could be ready in five weeks, which puts him in position to play in the playoffs. That notion seems to coincide with ESPN’s indication that it would be “mid-January.” Either way you cut it, Beckham is 30-years-old and attempting to recover from a severe injury. With that in mind, all we can say is watch this space.
