Quarterbacks dominate the league’s biggest contracts. This tells us the importance that teams give the position over others. It doesn’t mean teams can’t win without a star QB. It just means that teams think it is easier if you have more talent in this position rather than others.

Last year the NFL saw a huge influx of money thanks to new television contracts worth more than $100 billion: the sky really was the limit in the 2023 free agency, with some bumper contracts offered for the season.

But who are the highest-paid players in the NFL?

The quarterback position is the one that, inevitably, brings home the biggest bacon in the division. Of the top 10 highest earners in the division, all of them are quarterbacks, highlighting the importance of having a top level QB if you want success.

NFL top earners:

  1. Joe Burrow, Bengals: $55m
  2. Justin Herbert, Chargers: $52.5m
  3. Lamar Jackson, Ravens: $52m
  4. Jalen Hurts, Eagles: $51m
  5. Russell Wilson, Broncos: $48.5m
  6. Kyler Murray, Cardinals: $46.1m
  7. Deshaun Watson, Browns: $46m
  8. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs: $45m
  9. Josh Allen, Bills: $43m
  10. Dak Prescott, Cowboys / Daniel Jones, Giants / Matthew Stafford, Rams: $40m
