Unlike his opposite number, Andy Reid, who has a list of NFL accomplishments that could reach the moon, Nick Sirianni is a fresh-faced 42-year-old who was the third Eagles head coach to make the playoffs in their first year as head coach.

The Italian-American has been the head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles since 2021, during which he compiled a 24-11-0 record with the team.

Sirianni’s Super Bowl record

Sirianni led the Eagles to their fourth Super Bowl appearance and his first as a coach when they took on the Chiefs in Glendale, Arizona in Super Bowl LVII. He boasted a 14-3 regular season, and came close to a Super Bowl victory before ultimately losing 38-35 to the Chiefs.

“I chose this profession because I love it,” Sirianni told reporters. “It is a little bit blown out of proportion with all of those things. I loved playing football, and I love coaching it. I’m not going to hide my emotions at any point.”

Nick Sirianni won three national championships

A former wide receiver, Sirianni succeeded at the Division III institution, Mount Union in Ohio. He clinched three national championships there in 2000, 2001, and 2002. In his senior year in 2003, Sirianni amassed 998 yards and 13 touchdowns while pursuing a degree in education, which he later graduated with.

His football roots run deep in his family; his father served as a head coach, overseeing the Southwestern Central College team in Jamestown, the very place where his son would ultimately graduate.

Sirianni was an incredibly talented, all-rounded sportsperson, playing football, basketball and running track. Unfortunately, repetitive injuries kept him from having a great football career, and he moved into coaching defensive backs coach at Mount Union. This move would prove to set him up for a glittering career.

Sirianni’s coaching career

The Indiana University of Pennsylvania was the next stop for Sirianni, where he coached receivers before his jump to the NFL in 2009. Sirianni moved to the Kansas City Chiefs but was cut out when they changed coach. His name? Andy Reid. Yes, this was the first time that Reid and Sirriani crossed paths, and although the current Chiefs coach didn’t retain him then, he did not have a bad word to say about the man.

No hard feelings from Sirianni

“When I came here”, Reid said, “I was told Nick Sirianni is a really special coach. Really a good football coach. But, I had David (Culley). David was my assistant head coach and he had been with me for 14 years and so, he was coming with me. I loved [Sirianni’s] personality. He’s a guy that you can talk to and [he] communicates well. He’s got a fire to him that you appreciate – and the players appreciate. A personality is what I’m saying – a good personality.”

Sirianni then meets his wife in Kansas and holds no hard feelings about being moved on by Reid at the time. From there, he went to the San Diego Chargers and the Indianapolis Colts as an Offensive Coordinator before finally moving to the Eagles in 2021.
