Why did the Pittsburgh Steelers’ plane make an emergency landing in Kansas City?

There’s really no other priority when people’s safety is at stake and with that football fans can take comfort in knowing that the Steelers are in fact safe following what must have been a real scare during their trip back home.

Steelers’ plane forced to make emergency landing after win

According to reports on Monday, the charter plane used by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the early morning hours was forced to make an emergency landing in Kansas City. The Steelers were of course making their way home following an impressive 23-18 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Nevada on Sunday night.

Regarding what exactly happened, reports indicate that the aircraft made the unscheduled landing due to an oil pressure failure in one of the engines. On a positive note, Burt Lauten, the Steelers’ Senior Director of Communication, took to social media to confirm that everyone was safe and that the team was in the process of rescheduling its return to Pittsburgh for later in the day. In a more light-hearted move, Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward also made a post on social media in which he joked that the emergency situation was actually the result of a contentious “roughing the passer” call on teammate Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The Steelers are doing better

With the confirmation of everyone’s safety, one has to imagine that Pittsburgh will now be focusing on what comes next after improving to a 2-1 record following the win. Worth noting is the fact that it was the first NFL game in which quarterback Kenny Pickett threw multiple touchdowns. How did he do on the night? Pickett completed 16 of 28 passes for 235 yards and two TDs. There was also George Pickens who caught four of those passes for 75 yards, and who could forget T.J. Watt who continued to show that he’s worth the hype with two sacks and three QB hits. Up next for Pittsburgh? A date with the Houston Texans on Sunday, October 1st.
