The Dallas Cowboys will start their training camp this week in Oxnard, California, but they will be without CeeDee Lamb due to a contract dispute.

CeeDee seething over Cowboys contract

According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Lamb will not attend the Cowboys’ training camp because he has been unable to agree on a contract extension.

The wide receiver from Oklahoma is scheduled to earn $17.99 million in the 2024 season, which will be the final year of his rookie contract. The wide receiver market is being driven by Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, who will receive $35 million per season between 2025 and 2028. It is likely that Lamb is seeking an annual salary exceeding $30 million per season.

Lamb’s performance makes him deserving of a high-value contract. The three-time Pro Bowl invitee has amassed 5,145 yards with 32 touchdowns after catching 395 passes thrown his way. Additionally, he has accumulated 318 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

In 2023, he finished third in the voting for Offensive Player of the Year, behind Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers and Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins. He also received his first nomination to the NFL’s All-Pro First Team after leading the league in receptions with 135.

Who are the other Dallas Cowboys wide receivers for 2024?

Without Lamb, the Cowboys’ receiving corps loses significant talent. The wide receiver who accumulated the most yards behind him in 2023 was Brandin Cooks with 657. The other available WRs are Jalen Tolbert (268), KaVontae Turpin (127), and Jalen Brooks (64).

Dallas added Ryan Flournoy in the sixth round of the Draft. Additionally, they signed two undrafted rookies, Cam Johnson and Corey Crooms.
