Why isn’t Amon-Ra St. Brown playing for the Lions against the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football?
The receiver limped out of the Thanksgiving Day defeat to the Packers and while he has not practiced this week, he is upbeat about his chances of playing.

Thursday Night Football features two NFC teams who had contrasting results on Thanksgiving Day. The Lions, playing their third straight game at Ford Field, lost 34-21 to the Packers to continue their pattern of winning one week and losing the next - Dan Campbell‘s team have now alternated wins and losses for the past eight games.
Their guests on Thursday will be the Dallas Cowboys who scored a 31-28 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on the holiday. It brought up the team’s third win in a row, one which pushes them up to second in the NFC East.
The Lions will spend the next 24 hours waiting to see how Amon-Ra St. Brown evolves from the ankle sprain he sustained during the opening quarter against Green Bay. The receiver has not practiced this week and his availability remains “up in the air”.
"I've only missed like two games in my career so that was tough. Having you guys there, a bunch of family there to watch me play, they didn't get to enjoy any of it."

St. Brown says his ankle is improving
St. Brown told reporters Tuesday that he is taking things day by day, but his ankle appears to be getting better.
Dan Campbell was quietly optimistic about the player’s chances of starting against Dallas: “If he can play, he’ll play,” was all he had to say on the eve of the game, with his WR listed as “questionable”.
St. Brown has 75 receptions for 884 yards and nine touchdowns this season, his fifth in Detroit.
