Sam Darnold achieved something he had always dreamed of in Super Bowl LX from Santa Clara, but he said after the game he could only think about one thing.

The best is yet to come
Of course, the NFL´s cameras were focused in on Sam Darnold after everything that he has been through in his career. The quarterback that everyone doubted, that team after team passed up on, is now a Super Bowl winner and that maybe not even be the best thing that’s going to happen to him this year.
Darnold was in the midst of celebrating the Seahawks second Lombardi Trophy when microphones picked up a conversation between the Seattle quarterback and his family. Sam had waited his entire life for that moment, but he admitted to his mom and dad that he wasn’t thinking about the game, or the impending party.
He was thinking about his pending nuptials coming next month. “We´ve got about a month until the wedding. I was just talking to Maria Taylor, the one who interviewed me, I was like, is it weird that I’m thinking about the wedding right now and that its in a month?” said the former USC Trojan.
Darnold can focus solely on wedding
Darnold and his long time girlfriend, soon to be his wife is Katie Hoofnagle have been engaged since July of 2025. They went public with their relationship in 2023 when Katie posted a few pictures of Darnold for his birthday on June 5th.
Katie was living in Charlotte after graduating on the Dean’s list from the University of South Carolina. She’s a San Francisco native, but moved to Charlotte, North Carolina after graduating in 2020. That’s most likely where she met Darnold, since he was playing for the Panthers in 2021 and 2022.
Now the two are set to get married next month, and you can see the excitement of Darnold, who could only think about one thing in the aftermath of winning his first Super Bowl. He has been focused on the season for the last six months, but now that the season is over, it’s time to change gears. “I’m like, frickin, I’m excited but also just, like it’s a lot. We’ve got a lot to do,” said Darnold.
