Will Jerry Jones sell the Dallas Cowboys?

Despite their lack of Super Bowl success, the Dallas Cowboys remain the NFL’s most valuable team, and owner Jerry Jones thinks he could get $10 billion for them.

The Dallas Cowboys remain the most valuable franchise not only in the NFL, but also in the whole world. Forbes Magazine placed the team’s value at $6.5 billion last year, despite the impact of the pandemic.

2021 proved to be a banner year for the league, pushing up the average value per team to $3.48 billion, up 14% in the biggest increase in five years.

The team’s current valuation is certainly a far cry from the $150 million that owner Jerry Jones paid for it in 1989. But the billionaire believes the Cowboys are worth even more than the Forbes estimate. He thinks he can sell the team for $10 billion on the open market.

But Jones is not going to let go of the title “NFL team owner” anytime soon. He told NBC Sports’ Peter King that he is not putting up the ‘for sale’ sign on the Boys.

“Let me make this very clear,” he told King. “I’ll say it definitively. I will never do it. I will never sell the Cowboys. Ever.

Dallas Cowboys: Long history of high value

The 79-year-old appears very fond of his team, and the profit that they rake in for him can’t hurt either.

The Cowboys have been in the top spot on the list of priciest NFL teams for 15 consecutive years. They have increased in value by 43% over the last five years. Dallas has also been the most valuable sports team in the world since 2016.

Jones has won three Super Bowls since he became the Cowboys’ owner, but there has been a long-standing title drought. The team last fought for a conference title in 1995.
