Alcaraz and Nadal go for gold
Is there a better doubles pairing at the Olympics? The fans were loving the opening performance from the Spanish duo of Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, two genuine superstars bringing their talents to the Olympic Games.
They will take some stopping this summer.
Bronze for Samele
Luigi Samele defeated Egypt's Ziad Elsissy to pick up the Men's Sabre Individual bronze, and bring Italy's tally for the day to three - on top of the medals won earlier on Saturday in Cycling Road and swimming events.
Oh Sang-uk!
Oh Sang-uk added a gold medal to his collection, beating Tunisia's Fares Ferjani in the mens' individual sabre final at the Grand Palais.
It put South Korea on the medal board and brought up the three-time world champion's third Olympic medal, after picking up gold in the team event at Tokyo 2020.
Wembanyama delivers on Olympic debut
There was plenty of speculation about Victor Wembanyama's Olympic debut and the 20-year-old San Antonio Spurs center didn't disappoint. He played a key role in France's 78-66 win against Brazil, contributing 19 points, five rebounds, four steals and three blocks.
France end the day sitting second in Group B with two points, the same as leaders Germany but with an inferior points difference (+12 compared to +20).
Team USA bags first gold medal at Paris 2024
Here it is, the first gold of the Games for Team USA. For the third Olympics in a row the American men win the 4x100m freestyle relay. Swimmers Jack Alexy, Chris Guiliano, Hunter Armstrong and Caeleb Dressel bring home first place for the US.
The United States has already racked up five medals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Team USA has more medals than any other nation in Olympic history and there will be plenty more to come, with the basketball team the strong favourites to clinch gold.

Australia get first gold: cycling
Grace Brown takes first place in the cycling road women's individual time trial.
Silver goes to Team GB's Anna Henderson and bronze to Chloe Dygert for the USA.
The first medal event isn’t until Wednesday, July 31st, but the action gets going for the Olympic surfers right from the off, on Saturday, July 27th.

When did China last top the medal table?
With two golds already, China are the opening leaders of the Paris 2024 medal table. Can they end a 16-year wait to top the Summer Games’ standings once more?
The Chinese, who were second behind the US at Tokyo 2020, last finished at the head of the medal table in 2008, when they hosted the event in Beijing. They won a whopping 48 golds that year - 12 more than the second-placed Americans.
Beijing 2008 is the only time since 1992 that the US have not finished at the head of the medal count.
The Games' first podium shot
The 2024 Games' first champions, China's Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao, have been presented with their gold medals.
The Chinese pair were winners of the mixed team 10m air rifle event, beating South Korea's Keum Ji-hyeon and Park Ha-jun.
Ledecky into 400m free final
The USA's Katie Ledecky has eased into the 400m freestyle final later today. She remains on course for a record-equalling eighth career Olympic gold.
Second gold medal goes to China
So far, the Chinese are bossing it in Paris. Having picked up the Games' first gold medal, they have now also secured the second.
In diving, Yani Chang and Yiwen Chen have won the women’s synchronised 3m springboard final, ahead of the United States’ Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook. Bronze went to the British pair Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen.

The winners of the mixed team 10m air rifle competition will be the opening champions of the 33rd Summer Games.
The mixed team 10m air rifle medal event is due to take place at 5am ET/2am PT.

Opening ceremony kicks off Paris Games
While some events actually began on Wednesday and Thursday, the curtain wasn't officially raised on the Paris Olympics until yesterday, when the opening ceremony was held in a rainy French capital.
Thousands of athletes paraded along the river Seine - before the ceremony reached its climax at the Jardins du Trocadéro. There was a special performance by legendary singer Céline Dion, who serenaded spectators from the Eiffel Tower.
